The OnePlus 6 is one of the best 2018 flagships so far. It’s fast, it will be one of the first phones to get Android Pie and, so far, it is well supported by the company that released it. OxygenOS 5.1.11 is here, and it promises a number of bug fixes, optimizations and camera improvements. These aren’t just your generic software bug fixes either, as problems such as the display flickering bug are fixed too. You can check out the full changelog below.

OxygenOS 5.1.11 released for the OnePlus 6

Size: 152MB

System

  • Optimized network connection
  • Optimized stability for Wi-Fi connection
  • Fixed screen flickering issue in daylight
  • General bug fixes and improvements
  • Confirm PIN without tapping ✓ [Settings -> Security & lock -> PIN]

Camera

  • Improved HDR mode

The file size is 152MB unless your device is rooted, in which case the file size is just a little bit over 1.4GB. There are a number of great improvements and fixes here, and many will be happy with the display flickering being fixed. Most people with the OnePlus 6 will be using face unlock or the fingerprint scanner to unlock their device though, so the automatically confirming PIN isn’t all that useful. It’s still nice to have though. Other bug fixes and improvements pertain specifically to networking.

It’s a big enough update to receive with Android Pie on the horizon and addresses some key concerns many have had about the OnePlus 6. While there hasn’t been too much complaining anymore about the Wi-Fi strength, the display flickering bothered many. With Android Pie seemingly on the horizon, it’s understandable if OnePlus is putting all of their resources towards it. As such, it’s unlikely that for now, we’ll see many updates released for the OnePlus 6 aside from major bug fixes. It’s great to see them paying attention to it for now, and hopefully, it continues right up until Android Pie is released! Even seeing camera improvements is a bit surprising, given the improved camera quality we already saw in the last update.

To install the update, you can flash the full ROM in TWRP if your device is rooted. The update is not rolling out by country, so you cannot use a VPN to get the download. However, even if your device is unrooted, you can use Oxygen Updater to get the update now.
